About Us

E3 – Energy, Environment, and Engineering

The E3 – Energy, Environment, and Engineering program provides students with hands-on activities, inquiry-based learning, and arts-integrated academic instruction.

Our learning is supported with resources such as a TV production studio, the science/math lab, robotics lab, 3-D printer, sea aquarium, rooftop and hydroponic gardens, and access to a natural scrub area where students learn about indigenous, exotic, and invasive plants and animals.

Galaxy Elementary has multiple science-based mural designs and a Wonderment Center, where students' learning is enhanced through engagement with multimedia scientific wall stations in an interactive museum-like atmosphere.

Extracurricular activities that integrate the curriculum may include robotics, gardening, art, music, dance, recycling, and SECME.

Galaxy is unique in that it houses the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Science on a Sphere (SOS) program that supports E3 instruction by displaying Earth’s ever-changing atmosphere, oceans, and land on an animated 6-foot globe in a small theater-in-the-round setting.

With the SOS program and its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building designation, Galaxy is a natural fit for the E3 curriculum, studies associated with Earth’s conservation, and seeding career interests for civil engineers, energy conservationists, and more.

The School District of Palm Beach County serves more than 189,000 students who speak 150 languages and dialects. We are a High-Performing School District with 335 Choice & Career Programs. Our mission is to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system.
